I played with the Spartans their last year, 1975. Great memories. After the league folded I played with the Chicago Heights Broncos in the Chicago league. I hated the drive to Chicago 3 times per week, but I loved playing.

Thank you for such an interesting article. I also read of the tour (and a very, very clever idea too, given the circumstances presented to the Valentinos) but not of the dolls!

Didn’t know Selsnick filmed the Madison Square Garden footage either.

Just starting to scratch the surface reading about Rudolph Valentino’s incredible and tragically short life.

‘ Got interested only recently having purchased a video of “The Eagle” at an estate sale (only knew of the Sheik movies prior) have since committed it to DVD.

Really a wonderful story. It may have been shot in California, but the costumes and camera angles readily created far away Russia….just amazing what they were able to accomplish.

Valentino and Banky were of course gorgeous.
